I enjoyed reading the book A Month in Italy by Chris Brady. The author writes about so many interesting places that I am inspired to put them on my list of places to visit. I have always been drawn to Italy more than any other country in Europe. I would love to one day be relocating there to live for a while. Hopefully by then I will be married to a wonderful man who has a sense of adventure similar to mine. Having a sense of adventure is a serious requirement for me in a man, but I will elaborate more on that in another post. This post is about the medieval towers at San Gimignano. . .
San Gimignano is a walled medieval town in Siena Italy that was founded in the third century BC by the Etruscans. The town sits high up on a hill overlooking the sea. From its vantage point the residents were able to spot anyone approaching to attack. San Gimignano is famous for its medieval architecture and high towers. The town originally had 72 towers, but now only 14 are left.
I am currently reading a book titled A Month of Italy: Rediscovering the Art of Vacation. It is written by Christopher Brady. I am not going to review the book now. When I am finished reading it I will review it. This post is about the Villa Scarpariello that is mentioned in the book. The author makes it sound so romantic and beautiful that I had to look the place up online.
The Villa Scarpriello is located along the Almalfi coastline. Just from looking at it from the outside I am sold on it.
What particulalry interests me are the apartments in Villa Scarpariello. Imagine waking up and going to bed to views like this. In the bedroom photo above the only thing that ruins it for me is the TV. There is simply no way in heck that I am going all the way to Italy to watch TV; especially if I am surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. I refuse to put a TV in my bedroom at home so no way would I want that TV in there.
A kitchen in one of the Villa Scarpariello apartments.
I am really digging those red chairs.
This isn't a bedroom, but that TV needs to go. The Villa Scarpariello looks like a place I would want to spend my honeymoon in when my Prince Charming finds me and we get married.Even if I was travelling to the Amalfi coastline alone I still would not want to see a TV in there. I can easily picture myself spread out on the sofa or out on the balcony reading a great book on my kindle. Or better yet, cuddling with my Prince as we whisper sweet words to each other.
Beautiful and romantic views of the sea from the Villa Scarpariello
Speaking of wedding destinations, if you want to see a beautiful wedding that took place here along the Amalfi coastline click on Jeff Weeks Photos and you will see some of the most beautiful photos EVER!.The photos will take your breath away. Some of them I posted on the post.
Have you ever thought about where your dream home would be located? I certainly have and I sure that others have thought about it. I wondered where other people dreamed of having a house, so I asked in a poll where would your dream home be located. The just closed today and I have to say that the results did surprise me. The choices in the poll were America, England, France, Italy, Caribbean, Canada or other. I regret that I did not add Spain to the list.
I expected France to be the top country chosen because there are so many Francophiles out here. So many books are written by people who have either relocated to France or visit as often as they can. I also hear and read so much about the food in France. To my shock France was not chosen by a single person. England was the country that got the most votes over the others. England received 14 votes. America received 4 votes. Italy and the Caribbean received 2 votes each. Canada received one and someone chose "other".
I love America and I would not mind living here for the rest of my life, however I would choose Italy for my dream home, or I should say my second dream home if I were ever to sell the one I live in now. I have an adventurous spirit and I think it would be grand to experience life in a whole other country from where I grew up. Italy is a country that I have dreamed of owning an old house dating back a couple of centuries and immersing myself in its culture. Where would your dream house be located?
