Looking for Signs of Spring

It has been so cold here in the northeast of America.  The month of January has been stinging cold.  I am sort of thankful that I was laid off at the end of December because I don't have to get up early to go out to work in the frigid cold.  Except for job interviews and going to buy groceries, I pretty much have not been going outdoors.  I am catching up on a tremendous amount of reading and enjoying watching old movies.

I have had enough of the cold and I am looking for any signs of spring.  The only signs so far is that the days are getting longer.  Since the winter solstice we have gained 35 minutes of daylight.

For any other signs of spring I will have to settle for pictures for now.

Wow, It's November Already?

Oh my goodness, here we are in the month of November.  The last November before the Seventh Golden Age.    I am excited!  YAY!!!

A few places still has some autumn leaves on the trees, but for the most part the fall foliage season is over.  The temperatures have dropped in many areas of the east coast.  Nature is preparing to rest for the winter.  I love it and it is a time for me to rest in a way as well.  During the winter months I spend a lot of time indoors reading and watching movies.  It is also a great time for working on arts and crafts projects.  I like to take classes at the local arts center during the winter months too.

This is a time when I am thinking a lot of about the Christmas season.  Oh I can't wait!  I love Christmas and this year is a very special Christmas.  It is a Christmas of wonderful changes happening in my life.  My wish is that this holiday season brings wonderful happy changes for all of you too.

Celebrating the Autumn Season

Last Saturday, September 22nd was the autumn equinox.  I love this time of year.  The northeast looks so beautiful with the leaves turning such bright shades of red, orange and yellow.  The fall foliage has already started and will peak probably in early to mid October.  This is a great time to take a drive into Vermont or Massachusetts., as well as through the countryside of Upstate New York.

This time of year makes me think of all the upcoming holidays that you spend with family.  Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays.

Bicycle riding through the countryside with family and friends is a great activity during this time of year.  Remember to stop and admire the views.

It is pumpkin picking time as well.  Last year I did not have to pick any pumpkins because I ended up with a huge pumpkin patch in my backyard from my fruit and vegetable scrap compost.  I thought it would come back again this year but it didn't.

Decorating with pumpkins is fun.  I don't usually see white pumpkins being sold but I will make it a point to look for them this year.

Pumpkin soup is delicious.  I saw the recipe for this white pumpkin sanbar at Ushamadhavans Kitchen that I may try.  It certainly looks delicious.

I like this DIY pillow for autumn decor if you have a shabby chic home.

I love this autumn flower arrangement.

Enjoy your autumn season and make the most of it.
