Pierre-Auguste Renoir

Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born on February 25, 1841 in Limoges, Haute-Viennes France.  Renoir, like his friends Monet, Manet and Bazille was a painter who helped bring about the French Impressionist movement.  Renoir loved to paint people in intimate compositions.  He was particularly fascinated with the female nude body.  Much later in his art career Renoir started painting in a more classical style after seeing the artwork of the Renaissance masters.  In 1890 Renoir married Aline Victorine Charigot.  Together they had three sons.  One of their sons Jean became a noted filmmaker.  Another son Pierre became an actor of stage and screen.

Amazing, lovely paintings. Wouldn't it be great to have one of those on your wall?

Yes, it would be nice. I will have to settle for a reproduction. :-)
