Asafetida - What Is It?

Asafetida is a spice that is native to India and Iran.  If you are looking to eliminate garlic and onions from your diet as I have, then  asafetida is what you would replace them with.  Asafetida's aroma is extremely potent so you only need to use a little of it at a time.

Uncooked asafetida can just about knock you out, but when you add it to food it is really good and enhances the flavors.  Click on Savory Spice Shop to read more about this exotic asafetida.  If you use asafetida in yor cooking I would love to know what you think of it.

I use it when a recipe calls for it, I purchased mine from an Indian grocery store and the guy there said "use this when you cook beans and lentils so you don't make music" :)

I've given you an award on my blog :)
