Beautiful Natural Hair Up-dos

Some of the most beautiful natural Afro textured hair up-dos are displayed in these photos.  As you will see there is not only one type of Afro textured hair.  Some are curlier than others.  Some are kinky straight and some have a more loose curl pattern.  Some Afro textured hair is coarser than others.   It is all good hair.

All photos are from Pinterest.  If you see a photo here that belongs to you, I am more than happy to give you credit.

Yes, I think they are all pretty too. I used to wear my hair in locs and sometimes I do miss it.

Thanks so much for posting these photos. I also checked out some of the natural hairstyle blogs you listed under blogs you visit and was really impressed with the beautiful styles I saw. I've been relaxing my hair for a good 2.5 years or so and I've noticed that my hair doesn't seem quite as "happy" as it was when I was natural. I've switched to a more gentle relaxer recently, but i have been considering a return to natural hair. What was it like having locs?

Hi Jasmine, I enjoyed having locs. I had locs for five years and while growing them I realized how fast my hair actually grows because with locs you are retaining length. I cut off all of my relaxed hair and start with short locs. Within 3 to 4 years my hair was down to my waistline. My hair was a little heavy on my head too. After 5 years I was ready to cut off my locs. I never went back to relaxing my hair. I still wear it natural and will never return to relaxers. I have been completely natural since the year 2000. I cannot even relate to wanting to relax one's hair anymore. However, I do understand that each person has to stop when they are ready and not when anyone else is ready for them to do it. It has to be your own decision in your own time.

Thanks Xenia, that really helps! I look forward to the beautiful length and freedom of lifestyle that I will attain with natural hair!
