I love, love , love Swedish home decor. Why? Because it looks so clean, clean, clean and neat, neat, neat. The following pictures may freak you out if you are tired of seeing white as the main color scheme in home decor.
I love basic white as a background with some color infusion here and there; especially if pinks, blues and greens are used. In Swedish design curtains are usually missing but I do prefer having curtains (in crisp sheer cotton white). Curtains add femininity to a home. I do not like window shades.
I love to look of painted white wood floors, but they get dirty quickly so this is one thing that I stay clear of. I almost painted my wood floors white but I am glad that I didn't.

These rooms are so beautiful and clean looking. I used to like vividly coloured walls, but now we mostly go for white. It provides a great backdrop. Only thing is, you have to work at decorating, or it can be boring. I love the bright pillows in the picture with the big black lamp.

Great pics, I also love Scandinavian design. Your blog gives me so many ideas, I'm now leaning heavily towards open kitchen shelving when previously I didn't want anything on the walls whatsoever! I like white painted floors but my first concern would be how much they show up dirt. I have dark floors which show up dust but not dirty footprints!
I encourage you to go for the open kitchen shelving. I think you will be happy with them. White painted floors show up dirt big time so it is constant maintenance. When I was thinking about painting my floors white a friend of mine who had white painted wood floors talked me out of it. She told me that she didn't realize how much dirt it would show.
