Frederic Bazille self portraits
Jean Frederic Bazille was born into a very wealthy family on December 6, 12841 in Languedoc-Rousslin, France. Bazille's family expected him to go into medicine. Upon failing his medical exam Bazille went into the full time study of art which he love more than medicine anyway. Bazille's close friends were Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet and Alfred Sisley.
Frederic Bazille shared his studio and art supplies with artits like Monet who were less financially stable. Bazille's life as a talented artist was short lived. He died on the battle field after signing up to fight in the Franco-Prussian war. Bazille was only 29 years old.
Frederic Bazille preferred to paint People more than landscapes but he did paint nature as well.
