My Shabby Chic Kitchen

Updated photos of my kitchen are by Neil Grabowsky of TTL Studios based in Montclair, New Jersey.

My kitchen is huge and the ceiling is very high.  I really must get that sink skirt made to cover up the stuff underneath it.

There is actually a fireplace in my kitchen.  If you look to the right at the table that my blender is on you will see a piece of white board behind it covering up the fireplace.  I do not have a damper so it is covered up for now so that nothing comes down the chimney.  Once when it was uncovered a bat came flying down....eek!  My first house had a big cooking hearth in it which I miss so much.  So I do want to get this fireplace working.  It would be so nice during the winter to come home and be able to feel the warmth of the fireplace while I am cooking dinner.

My kitchen gets a lot of light.

The two opened shelf kitchen cabinets were originally bookcases that I bought for $15.00 each at a thrift store.  I couple of coats of white paint and they were ready to use as kitchen cabinets.

 My collection of cookbooks.

That kitchen is bigger than my first apartment in NYC! Massive. Love how much light comes in and the very shabby/chic elements but yes to that sink skirt to cover up the cleaning supplies. Love it overall. Thanks for stopping our blog recently. Moi, your newest follower. Have a fab weekend.

Xenia, this is stunning!!! OMG, it is so very beautiful! I can only imagine how delightful it must be to enter this space every morning. Heck, your kitchen may just be bigger than my house right now. :)

You have done a fabulous job!

Hi Sixpence, glad that you like my kitchen. I LOVE it and so do others when they see it in person. It is a very big kitchen and that is a part of its charm.

Oh my gosh, what a grand old lady your house is! You have some fabulous features including the tin ceilings and the arched pocket door (I've never seen an arched one before, just lovely). You apron sink is perfect and will look even better with a skirt. I'm also exceedingly jealous that you have a fireplace in the kitchen, even if it is covered up, the possibilities are there. Keep up the good hard work, your home is amazing and is thanking you for it.
